Blog Tipping Point

November 18th, 2005 by Christopher Harris

Have you ever experienced a Tipping Point?

It’s the name given to that moment in an epidemic when a virus reaches critical mass. It’s the boiling point. It’s the moment on the graph when the line starts to shoot straight upwards. (Gladwell)

The past two weeks have certainly seen the blog line suddenly begin to head up at an unprecedented angle. I hope to have some links to examples up soon, but I wanted to share some of the excitement. It started with two districts asking for help in starting a testing blog to spread information about preparing for and then scoring the New York State assessments (cue Drupal). Then last week, a school librarian asked for help in getting started with David Warlick’s Blogmeister. He liked the idea of blogging, but when I shared the concept of a podcast, he was sold. Today, back to Drupal for an internal website that will make use of the Flexinode module to create custom information sharing pages (think a pre-formatted blog post to help people get started). But wait, there’s more! An afternoon workshop with Gary Stager (stay tuned) brought forth more calls for a variety of blogs, wikis, and even moodle sites!

It’s all about the tipping point – and I am just excited to be here to help.
