Flat World Event in Rochester Area
January 23rd, 2006 by Christopher HarrisVictor Central Schools, a district just SE of Rochester, is holding a summit on "Educating Students for Life in a Global Economy" on February 15th at 7:00 PM. The school community has been reading Thomas Friedman’s The World is Flat: A Brief History of the 21st Century and this summit is the next step in their discussion and review of the ideas presented in the book. David R. Smith, CEO of Infotonics, will deliver the keynote. Following his address, a group of distinguished panelists will discuss education and careers in a global economy. The panel will consist of The Honorable Michael F. Nozzolio, New York State Senator for the 54th Senate District; Randall Farnsworth, President of Randall Farnsworth Auto Group; Michael Manikowski, Executive Director of the Ontario County Office of Economic Development; Donald Culeton, President of Info Directions Inc.; and Sandy Roberts, Senior Vice President of Information Technology at Canandaigua National Bank.
