Some People Shouldn’t Blog!

Only slightly tongue-in-cheek, my latest SLJ column addresses five reasons why not everyone should be blogging. We are all facing continued pressure from districts that are trying to figure out the new social networks, a congress that would rather legislate the InterTubes than address real problems, and the increasingly obvious fact that our students are simply moving forward. In this environment, it is important that everyone become aware of and involved in networks of some type…but maybe people who paint with their buttocks should be less involved?

    Great piece Chris! I know a teacher who blogs pseudonymously (you can easily find out who the person is with a few simple clicks to their OWN SIDEBAR LINKS – flickr, MySpace etc.) who often complains about grading, students’ poor grammar, and how BORING study periods are.

    Sigh… person’s having some trouble landing a job at the moment. There could be other reasons, but with employers more and more search engine savvy I can’t help but wonder. We all need to vent sometimes but I think there are other, healthier venues. And as a blogger who constantly has to explain that I never complain about work or users online, those who do give the medium a bad rap. In my humble….
