So how do we assess? Doug is talking about a number of different tools and methods available to us. We can look at our libraries in terms of Checklists or Standards. Research studies can also provide insight into best practices in the field. As Doug noted, libraries are also very good at Counting Things. A final way to assess is by Asking People with surveys.

The more important part of assessment is assessing students. Assessment comes from a Latin root that means to sit down beside someone. Evaluate is a valuation of comparing students. We need to be assessing students.
