If you’re happy and you know it…
August 27th, 2007 by infomancyThen you might just be a school library blogger according to Meredith Farkas’ initial review of her biblioblogsphere survey. Also included in the happiest about their jobs group are law librarians and consortium/system bloggers. Coming from a school library system must put me right off the chart!
The thing is, I am very happy with my job. Our department gets to work sort of like a startup company with flexibility to try new ideas that can later be transitioned into production in another part of the organization. By working with our member libraries as leaders for the use of emerging technologies, we helped bring Moodle, blogging, podcasting, and now Macs to the region.
A big part of my job satisfaction probably stems from the use of new technologies to streamline our traditional library system services (like putting our member library database ordering process online and automating everything from selection through automatic building of portal pages) that has allowed us to have more time for our experimental services like Fish4Info.
